8th post | English challenges

English language challenges Hello! This's the first semester that I have english at university. The first class was funny, with most of my classmates with the camera on interacting with each other in english. But from the second class, it was pretty boring. The classes weren't similar to the ones I had in high school, because there are no units, specific content or a presentation. During the classes we only do some random stuff, like visiting a virtual museum or watching videos without sound, trying to make us interact in english. The blogging seem fun to me, because it's similar to telling our lives through social media (as we usually do) but more "elaborate". Also, you can choose what to talk about more specifically without losing the central theme. I would like to receive some feedback on them, since I have no idea if I'm writing something wrong (probably yes). My english vocabulary isn't completely bad, but I don't know how to pronounce many of the

7th post | Study programme

Changes to my study programme Hello, today I’m going to talk about the study program of my career, which is psychology at the University of Chile. To be honest, when I was in high school and needed to decide what to study, I didn't know what a study program was. I found out about the different subjects that I was going to take once I was already enrolled in the university. So, I wasn’t able to judge whether it was a good program or not. However, after three semesters, I can say that I‘m truly in love with my career and with most of the subjects I’ve had to take. It’s easy to know what knowledge they are giving me for the future, because even if they all correspond to different areas, they all relate to each other. The teachers I have met so far are so passionate that they manage to convey their motivation to learn and encourage us to become good psychologists. Even in this context of virtual classes, they have done their best to adapt themselves, and the content and skills that

6th post | Time travel

Time travel to the future If I could go to the future I just would like to see my own city, where I live in this moment, because would be the only place where I could see clearly the real differencies between now and the future.  I don't know how many years in the future I would like to travel, but probaly I would like to choose a date when I know I definitly won't be alive, for two reasons.  First, I would not like to see my family, my friends or me in the future, know about my future life or anything that could do my present boring or predictable (knowing what will happen to me). Second, If I go to the future, I would like to see the things I won't see in my own life, for example, how will be the advancement of technology in the day to day, how will work the society and what will be the protests of minorities one or two hundred years in the future.  Even If I don't know how will be my future, I would not like to stay there because here are, in the present, my family,

5th post | Psychologist

My future job ¡Hello!, this week I’m going to talk about my future job. Because I’m studying psychology at university, I pretend to obtain the title of this career and become in a psychologist, probably in four or six years more, If I want to specialize in something. But I don’t imagine myself working in the typical clinic we usually think when we talk about psychologists. On the contrary, I imagine myself working with a lot of people around me, helping them together, at the same time. So probably I will end up studying social or community psychology. When I think about the salary I don’t care so much, because I always say to me that “If I can live in good conditions with that, everything will be okay, because I will be in love with my job”. I’m really planning to dedicate everything on it. Maybe travel a lot for a psychologist would be difficult, because of the responsibility with their regular patients. But If it possible, I would like to travel in our country and out of it, to

4th post | My pet

My little pet If there's something I always want to talk about it's about my pets, especially of one of my two cats, called "Tommy". I've had many cats in my life, and I can't compare any of them with him. When I adopted Tommy had around two months of life, but he was very social and was circling in front of you so that you would make petting to him. He sleeped with me from the first day and after that he decided to never more be apart of me. He's with me on classes, while I'm studying, reading, cleaning and even now while I'm writing this. At the end of the day, he's always waiting for me to go to the bed together. Because I'm in quarentine I don't go out frequently, but when I have to do it my mom tells me he's looking to the door all the time. When I come back he refuse to be far of me, and it's constantly trying to stay on my legs or my neck.  Another thing about Tommy it's that he isn't growing up quickly, so my fam

3rd post | Mental health

The importance of your mental health When we are young, our parents teach us or at least constantly tell us to take care of our body, to be careful about falling, hitting ourselves or anything else. In the same way, they prevent us from carrying out behaviors that could cause us any disease that affects our health. But what about mental health? Did your parents or teachers ever tell you "what mental health means, why is it important, and how can you take care of it?"   According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of diseases or illnesses." It's a component of the quality of life of a person, since it allows them to go through the stress of daily life in a healthy way and have good relationships. If we know what mental health is, we can maintain a set of habits and strategies that allow our mind to be in harmony with the environment in which we live a

2nd post | Pichilemu

The best holidays ever More than a year ago, in the summer of 2020 when the coronavirus wasn’t in Chile yet, I went to Pichilemu (known as "the capital of surf") with five of my friends. We decided to stay there for two nights and three days, renting a cabin with two big bedrooms, one for the three girls and another for the three boys.  The trip from our city to there lasts close to three hours, so we decided to arrive to the bus station at 7 a.m to get there at 10 a.m, and leave our things in the cabin. After that, for the next three days, we were free to cook our own lunch, walk around the city, buy souvenirs, go to the beach and do whatever we wanted to. Even if this sounds like de most simple holidays, I enjoyed it so much because was the first time when me and my group of friends could go to other place alone, and take care of ourselves without the presence of our parents or anyone telling us what things we should be doing.  It was a great opportunity to have a special t
