The importance of your mental health

When we are young, our parents teach us or at least constantly tell us to take care of our body, to be careful about falling, hitting ourselves or anything else. In the same way, they prevent us from carrying out behaviors that could cause us any disease that affects our health.

But what about mental health? Did your parents or teachers ever tell you "what mental health means, why is it important, and how can you take care of it?"

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of diseases or illnesses." It's a component of the quality of life of a person, since it allows them to go through the stress of daily life in a healthy way and have good relationships.

If we know what mental health is, we can maintain a set of habits and strategies that allow our mind to be in harmony with the environment in which we live and develop, including the people within it.

Being aware and careful, we'll have a better probability of preventing mental disorders, or when we face one, we'll already have a little notion of what is happening to us and we'll know that there're adequate instances to treat it, such as visit the psychologist, accepting that it's something completely normal.

  1. The mental health is less valued than physichal health. Which is the result of that? We are in the top of countries that have the worst mental health in the world. Seriously, the people are suffering all day with their lives, somebody have mental disorders without knowing it, others persons taking prescriptions like if was the best solution to their problems, but they aren't the first responsible about that. The school, the government and the society have the responsability of teach, worry and learn about the mental health, besides of the physical health.

  2. The mental health is so important, and is sad that people do not take care about. A person that has depression or anxiaty, is so important like have a cold or asma. So, people have to worry and learn about mental health, like Jorge says.

  3. First of all, your blog look so cute I love it.
The mental health is very important for the comfort of the people, but in this country the goverment don't put any effort for promote the importance of this topic for the health of everyone and they don't give any resources for mental health, that's very sad

  4. It's a shame that mental health is not given the importance it deserves today :(

  5. I really like how informed and aware you are on the subject, as you say, taking this into account we can look for a harmonious coexistence with ourselves and our environment.

  6. I so agree with what you said!!! and we have the same photo hahahah good choice.
